Information to Help You Succeed in the Barn

The event, hosted by the PennAg Poultry Council, Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council and Penn State Extension will include educational sessions especially designed for Pennsylvania’s pork and poultry producers.The first session for pork producers will begin at 7:30 a.m. and include updates on swine health topics including PRRS, PEDv, Seneca Valley Virus, Pennsylvania’s Feral Swine Herd, and Biosecurity.  The National Pork Board will also share what checkoff programs are available to help you better succeed in the barn.

Keynote Session to Discuss the Changing Consumer

At 10 a.m. Justin Ransom will give the keynote session, “Defining Shared Values in a Modern Food Supply Chain.”  Raised in North Texas and Oklahoma farming and ranching, Justin most recently has been working with the quick service restaurant industry working to bridge the gap between agriculture and food animal producers.  Following his presentation, Justin will be joined by Bob Ruth of Clemens Food Group and Paul Sauder of Sauder’s Eggs who will provide their perspective of how agriculture is adopting to fit consumer needs.  Have questions?  You’ll have your chance to ask them during the session’s question and answer period.

PQA and TQA Certification

Whether you are looking to renew your certification or looking to become certified for the first time, take part in the PQA Plus certification training at 1:30 p.m. and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) certification starting at 2:30 p.m.  Bring a pencil since both training’s will include a short exam following the session.  All other training materials will be provided.

Lunch at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord!

Attendees will be able to enjoy the famous Shady Maple Smorgasbord by purchasing a lunch ticket at registration for $5 per person. Discounted lunch tickets must be purchased prior to 10 a.m. to receive the $5 price. After 10 a.m., lunch tickets will be sold at the full price of $15, so be sure to arrive early to save $10 on a great lunch!
