Information to Help You Succeed in the Barn

The event, hosted by the PennAg Poultry Council, Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council and Penn State Extension will include educational sessions especially designed for Pennsylvania’s pork and poultry producers.The first session for pork producers will begin at 7:30 a.m. and include an update from the PRRS/PEDv Task Force and updates on a variety of swine health topics.  Additionally, Karen Hoare from the National Pork Board will share tools available to producers to help you better succeed in the barn.

Keynote Session to Discuss the Trade and Washington D.C.

At 10 a.m. Jim Wiesemeyer from Pro Farmer and Farm Journal will explain share his insight from “inside the beltway” during his presentation “Trump & Washington: Can Dysfunctional Washington Function?”  Jim’s extensive knowledge and insight will provide attendees understanding of how agriculture is affected by the decisions and actions made at a federal level.  Following Jim, the session will focus on how trade and exports impact the Pennsylvania pork and poultry producer.

PQA and TQA Certification

Whether you are looking to renew your certification or looking to become certified for the first time, take part in the PQA Plus certification training at 1:30 p.m. and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) certification starting at 2:30 p.m.  Bring a pencil since both training’s will include a short exam following the session.  All other training materials will be provided.

Lunch at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord!

Attendees will be able to enjoy the famous Shady Maple Smorgasbord by purchasing a lunch ticket at registration for $5 per person. Discounted lunch tickets must be purchased prior to 10 a.m. to receive the $5 price. After 10 a.m., lunch tickets will be sold at the full price of $15, so be sure to arrive early to save $10 on a great lunch!
